Project Northland is an underage drinking prevention program in Lincoln, Union, and Jackson parishes. It is a research-based multilevel, multiyear alcohol use prevention program that targets 6-8 grade students. The program addresses individual behavior change and environmental change that includes students, parents, mentors and community activities. The goals of Project Northland are: first, delay the age when young people begin drinking. Second, increase community awareness about problems associated with alcohol. Third, reduce alcohol use among young people who have already tried drinking. Fourth, limit the number of alcohol related problems in young people.
